Arizona Cardinals Hire Jen Welter as First Female Coach in NFL History

Jen Welter becomes the first nfl female coach!

The Arizona Cardinals have taken a huge step in adding equals opportunities to women in the NFL, with the announcing of their latest aquisition. 37-year-old Dr. Jen Welter has been hired by the organization as the first female coach in the league. Although she’s currently an assistant coaching intern for training camp and the preseason to work with inside linebackers, this marks the first time a female will have some type of role among the sidelines in the NFL. She went to say “I didn’t even dream that it was possible. I think the beauty of this is that, though it’s a dream I never could have had, now it’s a dream other girls can grow up and have,”

Whether or not she lands a season job with the team remains to be seen, but the league has definitely taken notice of expanding outside of the traditional genders from year’s past.
