With the 2015 edition of free agency kicking off at earlier at midnight, the New Orleans Pelicans started the annual summer hardwood hunger games to announce arguably the biggest deal among all players. 22-year-old superstar, Anthony Davis has agreed to a five-year extension, reportedly worth over $145 million. The new deal will ensure that the Pelicans will have the services of Davis until 2021, when he’s a free agent at 28.

This contract also makes him the highest paid player, as well as obtaining the richest contract among all athletes on the hardwood for the next six seasons. Shortly after midnight, Anthony tweeted out the news, giving Pelicans fans a sigh of relief to just focus on what pieces they can convince the team to add.

Last season, the all-around beast averaged 24 points, 10 boards, 1 steal and nearly three blocks through 69 games of play. This enabled New Orleans to make the playoffs for the first time in four years, since losing Chris Paul, which they were swept by the eventual World Champion Golden State Warriors.
