Albert Pujols Hits 500th Career Home Run

Albert Pujols

Los Angeles Angels first-baseman Albert Pujols joined an elite club earlier tonight, becoming the 26th player in MLB history to record 500 career home runs, at the young age of 34. The career milestone for the slugger makes him the third youngest player to ever reach that mark and the first to ever hit both No. 499 and 500 in the same game.

The two home runs came off of Washington Nationals rookie right-hander, Taylor Jordan who made his 3rd start for the club and on the season is boasting a rough 6.23 ERA. The first HR was a three-run bomb to left field in the first-inning and in the fifth-inning, the 500th career HR was crushed into left-center field, just above the bullpen, giving the club a 6-2 lead.

Following the shot, Pujols was greeted at home-plate by his teammates, congratulating him on reaching the tremendous milestone. He then entered the dug-out and came back out for a curtain call, as the opposing teams crowd cheered him on. The Angels slugger finished the night 2-5 with 5 RBIs and currently leads the Major League with 8 home runs.

Check after the jump to watch Pujols crush his 500th career home run.
