We’ll Never Forget: The Real Big Tymers

bg

Remember earlier this month when Timbaland said new Aaliyah music doesn’t work with him behind the boards? We’ve made that same analogy with usage of the Big Tymers name. Lil Wayne made the UN-official announcement a few months back on MTV, that a Big Tymers reunion album was likely to occur with himself and Drake replacing Mannie Fresh in the process. This prompted many fans to voice their displeasure with the usage of the legendary name without the man behind the beats.

A super-group with Tunechi, Drizzy, and Birdman would obviously work, but not with a name as big as the third biggest southern duo (Outkast & UGK) ever in rap. Birdman, didn’t ask Mannie to join the group given their past fallout; but Fresh discussed the announcement weeks after, which he was not a fan of initially. Just last week, Birdman broke the official news of Mannie Fresh re-joining the Big Tymers collective, as the two (along with Drake and Weezy), are scheduled to begin recording shortly. We’ve been missing Mannie in the past, but now he will finally be return to big the lights, hopefully before the year’s end. This might be history in the making.

With Birdman and Mannie rejoining forces, it prompted us to go through some of the most memorable Big Tymers tracks ever made and we’ve decided to dedicate the week to the REAL Big Tymers. You can hit the jump, get re-introduced to some of your favorite cuts from the past; while the youngn’s can enjoy their hip-hop lesson for the day.
