Nearly 20 years into its tenure, the micro hip-hop label Stones Throw Records has blossomed into quite the establishment, making itself one of the most prominent record labels across the industry, with the help of a roster that includes Madlib, MF Doom, J Dilla, Strong Arm Steady, Aloe Blacc, Mayer Hawthorne and more.
The seemingly underground label, moves with mainstream power thanks to founder Peanut Butter Wolf, who started the imprint in 1996. In the new documentary, we get to hear from some of the greats including the likes of Kanye West, ?uestlove, Talib Kweli, Common, as well as Peanut Butter Wolf himself as he expands on the travels he’s taken the last 18 years on this musical exploration known as Stones Throw Records.
