Unreleased Poems From 17-Year Old 2pac

Tupac Shakur

Rest in power 2pac

It’s absolutely baffling to think that it has been 18 years since Tupac Shakur passed away and people are still being touched by his music and art. Just when you think you’ve read everything there is to know about him or gone through every poem he wrote, there is still material out there that the world has not seen.

Noisey obtained two poems written by a 17-year old 2pac and unearthed by Citizens of Humanity. The two handwritten pieces, one titled “Things That Make Hearts Break” and the other “Cupid’s Smile II,” both show such a contrast in emotions from young ‘Pac.

One is about the ills of the world and what brings a soul pain, while the one following, explains the hope and happiness that comes after a rain. Fans of Tupac know he mentioned topics like that in his music and as short of both of these poems were, you can sense it was still coming from a kid who had not yet experienced everything life had to offer.

THUG LIFE may be what people remember, but this captures everything that preceded that.

Read Jeff Weiss’ piece on the Tupac Amaru Shakur poetry over at Noisey and pour out a little liquor for one of the greatest rappers to touch a mic. Give one of his albums a spin tonight too.
