This is Why DMX Hated Jay-Z in 1998

More jewels from the gawd, Irv Gotti!

A few days ago, Irv Gotti revealed some jewels from his time in the game with the original Murder Inc. collective of DMX, Jay-Z and Ja Rule. He went to cite how Dame Dash, Hov and Lyor Cohen all felt the darkman wouldn’t be able to find success in the mainstream and how that all changed in 1998 with his initial roll-out. The Queens mogul was back to share more stories and went to break down what coincidentally helped Jigga’s Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life become his bestselling album of all-time. After the unfortunate death of Frank White in 1997, Jay went to studio with Puff and The Hitmen, but became overshadowed by DMX selling 5 million with It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.

Noticing an immediate change in the game from Irv, Swizz Beatz and Dame Grease, Lucky Lefty decided he couldn’t miss an opportunity to pass up on fresh production. Watch more from the interview with Gotti, where he also goes into the night of two creating “Money Cash Hoes,” which sparked the idea for The Hardknock Life Tour.
