Pusha T Reveals “King Push” Producers

Pusha T‘s King Push album was in the works shortly after My Name Is My Name, but he is in no rush to put it out quite yet. In a talk with XXL, Pyrex P revealed some details about the upcoming project, and why he’s taking his time.

According to Push, Kanye West has been messing with the skeleton beats and adding elements to them and that’s why it’s been a process thus far. He actually came up with the album title during the recording of the last, because that’s how he felt.

As far as producers, he said he’s been working with the likes of Pharrell, Nottz, Needlz, Hudson Mohawke and Baauer but there are no features as of yet. He also mentioned that the album is about six songs in.

“I’m going for album of the year, man, that’s it; straight up, lyric-driven of course. I feel like My Name Is My Name was very stripped down—on purpose— because I just felt like people weren’t rapping enough for my taste. I didn’t want to be in that category and I wanted to show people this is what I’m about. I want to infuse more elements of music into King Push; paint the pictures and smash them with the lyrics.”
