A long while has passed since we last heard solo work from A Tribe Called Quest’s own Phife Dawg, but today the New York emcee returns in honor of a late friend. Simply titled “Dear Dilla,” the rapper’s latest offering takes into the account what producer J Dilla has contributed towards music and the impact made throughout his lifetime, leading up to the anniversary of both the birthday and passing of the Detroit musician. Phife’s forthcoming album MUTTYMorphosis is currently in the works.
