Mike Jordan of Rap, Lucky Lefty, Iceberg Slim, H.O.V.A….the nicknames could go on for days. Jay-Z has been doing music for over 20 years and yet he’s still at the top of his game at the age of 42. Most new artists become rappers to get paid, which fucks music, but Jay came into game living a lavish lifestyle, emcees only dreamed about in their lyrics.
He initially did music to impress friends around Brooklyn but he soon found out he could make more money venturing into different projects than he could in the streets. Hov’s been very passionate about his craft which is why he’s still one of the best rappers out still.
So today we felt it was necessary to pay homage to one of the greatest rappers of all-time, Shawn Carter. This list is strictly done on the lyrical tip (not which album had the most club bangers or commercial friendly songs).
