We’re slowly approaching the 20th anniversary of Nas‘ classic debut LP, Illmatic, as we get closer to the weekend. The historical date is April 19th, but tomorrow the hip hop legend will be releasing Illmatic XXa revamped version of his debut featuring demos, remixes, freestyles, and remastered tracks. Coinciding with the album, VIBE took a trip to Escobar’s original stomping grounds with his brother Jungle to take a look back at the home Nas grew up in during his childhood.

Show some love and cop the Queensbridge OG’s celebratory album, and watch rest of the nostalgic trip to his hometown after the break.

UPDATE: Jungle walks through the projects and shares the story of Ill Will’s death and where the Illmatic cover was shot.
