RIP Kurt Cobain

HBO has just landed the first fully authorized documentary about Kurt Cobain, set to premiere on the network in 2015. Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is directed and produced by Oscar-nominee Brett Morgen, executive produced by Frances Bean Cobain and is about eight years in the making. Cobain’s family gave Morgen and his team access to a plethora of archives, including journals, unreleased demos, never before seen footage, songbooks, pictures and more to create the film and it will be an intimate look at the Nirvana frontman like fans haven’t seen in the past.

“Once I stepped into Kurt’s archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4,000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media.”

There is no date for release as of yet, but it should be out sometime next year.
