Like every year, the hip-hop community migrates to NBA All-Star weekend and last night the festivities in New Orleans got underway. Drake was one of the artists to have a show last night and while he was rocking during his set, he revealed some very big news about Lil Wayne‘s next album, Tha Carter V. Drizzy announced that Wayne’s next album will be released on May 5 of this year, and this comes only days after Drake took to Twitter to simply tweet the title of the album and build the hype even more. “Carter V May 5th, that’s all we focused on” proclaimed Drake on the stage while him and Wayne were performing the Take Care cut HYFR.

This is already shaping up to be a huge year for the Young Money collective, who are releasing their second collaborative album, Rise Of An Empire, on March 11 and Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint album at some point this year. Wayne has stated that the fifth installment of the Tha Carter series would possibly be his last, so this is huge news.
