The Doctor finally reveals why we never got DETOX!
Last Wednesday, Ice Cube was in Philadelphia to promote the pending release of the official N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Along with the stars of the motion picture film present, the South Central representative revealed that his partner-in-rhyme Dr. Dre, would be releasing a new soundtrack for the movie August 1st.
While the project unfortunately didn’t arrive today, the Doctor issued public service announcement on his Apple Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy. Dre revealed that an official soundtrack for the film was indeed arriving, which he got inspired to create new public for the first time in over 15 years during the filming process. Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, is now slated to arrive exclusively to Apple Music next Friday on August 7th.
In the midst of breaking the internet, he also opened on why the world never got his DETOX LP. He simply said, the album wasn’t where he wanted it to be in comparison to previous efforts and essentially didn’t want to disappoint fans with anything mediocre. Although we’re never likely to get a full-length solo project from Dre, this COMPTON release will be the closest thing to the album we never got last decade.
With appearances from Kendrick Lamar, The Game, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius, John Connor and BJ the Chicago Kid among others – take a look at the entire 16-track tracklist below.
