Common & John Legend Won Best Original Song at Golden Globes

SALUTE G.O.O.D Music!!

Being nominated for the first time and going up against the likes of Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Sia and Patti Smith for Golden Globes “Best Original Song” was no easy feat. John Legend and Common were nominated as well for their Selma soundtrack single “Glory” which is a powerful number that speaks to what’s going on in our country today.

The Golden Globes saw that as well because they gave the duo the win, and Common delivered an inspiring speech up at the podium.

“The first day I stepped on the set of ‘Selma’ I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie. As I got to know the people of the Civil Rights Movement, I realized I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand, but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty. ‘Selma’ has awakened my humanity.”

Congratulations to the singer and rapper for taking home the award!
