More New music is on the way!

For fans who have been clamoring a new Chance The Rapper album, the light at the end of the tunnel is near. The follow up to Acid Rap will be due at the end of the year and will be titled Surf, a project he’s putting together with The Social Experiment.

In a new interview with Billboard, Chano speaks on some of the latest songs he’s put out lately and how he’s been locked in the studio with his band creating several projects, as well as who has helped along the way and features we could expect soon. Interestingly, since he’s an independent artist, he doesn’t want to feel boxed in to the normal confines of a “mixtape” or album, which is why fans have been getting miscellaneous songs along the way instead of one project. He stresses the fact that since he’s independent, he can do what he wants, when he wants and he’s in full control of his destiny, merchandise and touring without the industry’s help.

“We’re working really closely with Francis Starlite from Francis and the Lights. He’s been a really been a big help on Surf. Damn, I’m saying these things like people know it. Surf is the first project, which is coming out before the end of 2014. It’s the first Social Experiment project. It’s a big step for all of us all putting our heads together and letting Nico [Segal] hold the reigns and carry it. There’s a lot of great instrumentation. A lot of input from cool writers. I’m already saying too much.

Well, we worked with Migos. We worked with J. Cole. We did some work with Emily King just last week. Somebody who helped us out a lot with just getting into the project was Rick Rubin. And Frank Ocean. There’s been a lot of just people in the studio watching us work almost like a house band. People come in just to watch us jam out.”

If you’ve been waiting to catch him on tour, he’s currently putting together a new set he’s dubbed as “musical theater” that will mirror something like a Lion King musical.
