Like the cover says, “NY’s Back!” The cities been producing a constant influx and up talented up and coming artist over the last few years most notably with Harlem’s own A$AP Rocky and Boogie Down’s French Montana. These two artist had monster years in 2012 with two of the most played party records from NY artists in quite some time with Rocky’s “Fuckin’ Problems” as well as French Montana’s skrip club anthem “Pop That.”
Now these two former underground artist have transitioned into the mainstream of hip-hop and are definitely currently the faces of NYC rap right now brining the city back into the limelight after previously being a graveyard. XXL took it into their hands to give these two emcees cover privileges for the Spring with 3 different issues coming in two weeks from now. Rocky is seen rocking a Death Row Records beanie in tribute to their rap efforts while coincidentally; the Moroccan Bad Boy artist French Montana is showcased wearing a picky ring with two-toned Platinum and Gold jewelry.
With Rocky’s debut studio album, “Long. Live. ASAP” still tearing up them charts after his number one debut on the Billboard two weeks ago; we can look forward to French Montana’ long awaited debut album “Excuse My French” releasing in May.
