Multi-genre producer/DJ A-Trak took time out of his schedule to stop by The Hot 97 Morning Show to discuss his musical beginnings and history of music. The Montreal figure spoke on his start in the industry by winning several scratch championships in his early teens, while spending three-four hours practicing every day.

A-Trak also went in-depth on his relationship with Kanye West after being booked for an in-store at the same record shop as John Legend (RIP FatBeats), when the singer was just Ye’s piano guy after The College Dropout had came out. Kanye pretty much hired him there, which lead to touring for years and working on some of his biggest hits. A-Trak also shared some interesting perspectives on how electronic music relates to Hip-Hop.

If you’re in the NYC area, don’t miss the Fool’s Gold Day Off party on Labor Day. Forthcoming dates for Toronto, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami have also been announced. Get tickets and lineup info HERE.
