House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black set the standard, but now Netflix is looking towards other horizons for their original programming. Marco Polo is due out this December and from the looks of it, the show will be readily compared to HBO‘s Game of Thrones.
The new series follows Marco Polo early years through the 13th century court of Kublai Khan, with plenty of war, bloodshed and sexual adventures on deck. Considering the merchant from Venice, Italy and the Mongol Empire in China are very different cultures, it will be interesting to see his story and travels to Asia and how they affected his journey and way of life.
The John Fusco-written show stars Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong, Tom Wu, Remy Hii and more. It will debut on Netflix on December 12.
