“True Detective” Director Will Not Return For Season 2

HBO smash hit True Detective has swept the country and has everyone on the edge of their seats, wondering what’s next for the final two episodes of the first season. A good part of what makes the show so epic is the masterful work done behind the camera.

The writing by creator Nic Pizzolatto has put the show on another level and keeps viewers coming back for more week after week. The directing on the show have also been fantastic, and that is thanks to Cary Joji Fukunaga. He and Pizzolatto, together, have made True Detective possibly the best show on TV.

The good news is Pizzolatto is currently working on the script for season two of the show, but unfortunately, there’s bad news.

Today, it was announced that Fukunaga would not be returning to direct the second season and will end his run after eight episodes. This is a major bummer, considering how well things were rolling in season one with the duo. Also, if you didn’t know, season two of True Detective will feature an entirely new cast and storyline.

This means that the awesome duo of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will not be returning either, so we will have to enjoy them for the last two episodes of this season. For Fukunaga, he will continue to be an executive producer for the show, but his main focus will now shift to a new series he is developing to direct over at Fox.

Are you as excited for True Detective season two with a new cast? What are your thoughts for the last two episodes of this season? Let us know below!
