Do you really know Kim Dotcom? Following the raid of Megaupload, he’s still in his New Zealand mansion under house arrest, fighting for the future of Internet rights. VICE took a trip to his massive compound in Auckland, where he has the MEGA logo on the front, golf carts just to get around and even a giraffe on the lawn as a pet.
While there, Kim talked about his experience in the large raid, where two helicopters and around 72 people invaded his home, to arrest him. He is now in the eye of history’s largest copyright case, fighting for his own freedom and trying to expose the United States government and NSA for their unconstitutional tactics.

As we type, Kim is awaiting trial and trying to find out how the US government actually spied on him and his company, so he could let the world know how they operate, not just with him, but potentially with everybody. He emphasizes that this type of Internet censorship can one day be abused by the wrong person and cause a totalitarian world wide web, absent of the freedom we see now.
In the midst of all the controversy, Kim still finds the time to wind down and likes to play XBOX, which he held the title of #1 player in the world in Call Of Duty. He’s also in the process of recording an EDM album, which he can be seen previewing songs from and even took the cameras to the studio to record a track.
