high-stakes gambling gone wrong
Gambling addicts will go through hoops and hurdles to fuel their addiction. The Gambler finds Mark Wahlberg, an English professor and high-stakes gambler, in a pickle between a gangster who he owes money to and a loan shark that has mercy over him. He’s given his own life as collateral, which is a big price to pay when you’re gambling away millions of dollars.
In the trailer for the film, John Goodman can be seen giving Wahlberg $2.2. million, Michael K. Williams punking him in the street and family problems, especially with his mother, who he has a dysfunctional relationship with.
The Rupert Wyatt-directed movie also stars Brie Larson and Jessica Lange, and will hit theaters nationwide in January 2015.
