Originally titled Animal Rescue, Michaël R. Roskam’s upcoming crime-drama The Drop could be one of the standouts this year in terms of writing, with Dennis Lehane taking charge of the storyline, who has worked on television shows such as The Wire and Boardwalk Empire and movies like Shuttler Island and Gone Baby Gone.
Taking place in Brooklyn, the cast includes the familiar names of Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace, with the film being James Gandolfini’s last appearance on screen after passing away last year. The plot centers around an area of criminals and mostly the events that a bartender and his cousin get themselves into, following a robbery gone askew and the trials that they must encounter afterwards.
The film will be available in theaters on September 19th.
