The blockbuster action film of the summer?
With the release of big blockbuster films like the new James Bond movie and Star Wars this holiday season, Paramount Pictures has moved up the release date of one of their big franchises, Mission Impossible 5. The film was supposed to be headed to theaters on Christmas Day, but now will see a July 31st opening, to get out of the way from the strong competition in the fourth quarter (Bond is due out November 16, while Star Wars will be released December 18).
The Christopher McQuarrie-directed action blockbuster might fare better in the summer and with Tom Cruise back at the forefront, it is sure to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
