$700K per-episode = Seinfeld on HULU
Popular 1990s cult-phenomenon sitcom, Seinfeld has finally found a home for online streaming of reruns. In HULU’s biggest programming acquisition ever, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. have agreed to terms on approximately $700,000 per-episode. While Amazon and Yahoo had initial aspirations of landing Seinfeld earlier this year, Netflix dropped out of the race to proceed with sticking to their Friends streaming deal – which set them back $500,000 an episode. The $180 million deal headlines HULU’s “Upfront” presentation currently going on today, which overshadows the new Cablevision deal to bring the service to all set-top-boxes. Reruns will still air on cable network TBS, but look for all 180-episoes featuring Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer to impact HULU soon.
