The new iPhone 6 is selling like hot cakes

The hype is real. Apple announced today that the newest model iPhone has sold more than 10 million handsets in its first three days of it going on sale. That figure is a new record, surpassing the 9 million the iPhone 5 and 5c sold last year. According to Apple, there were already four million pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus ahead of time (also a new record), but there are no specific figures as to which model sold more as of this time.

Apple CEO Tim Cook had this to say about the success with their new device:

“Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”

While the demand continues to be through the roof, we expect those initial sales figure to double and triple by the end of the month.
