A Conversation Between President Obama & The Wire Creator David Simon

The Wire is still relevant in our world today

HBO’s The Wire might be long gone and finished, as far as airing on TV (you know, besides the re-airing of the seasons in HD), but it’s influence on culture still remains.

President Obama sat down with creator David Simon to talk about some of the social issues the show portrayed and what he’s doing to fix some of them. Amongst them, they touched on how much the prison population has risen over non-violent offenses, the problems that come with felons getting out of jail and not finding work have caused, law enforcement and drug arrests and how the President is working towards reform.

Obama also admitted he’s a huge fan of The Wire, especially Omar Little, who he deemed as his favorite character on the show. Peep their interesting conversation above.
