Sony Reveals PlayStation 4 Gold Wireless Headset

It’s finally February, which means wireless headsets will soon be invading next-generation video game consoles. Tonight, the long-awaited PlayStation 4 software update 1.60 will be arriving, adding support for PULSE and PULSE Elite Edition wireless headsets on the console.

Gamers will now be able to enjoy 7.1 virtual surround sound and an updated voice chat system, that’s set to be in crystal clear audio as well. The new Gold Wireless Headset doesn’t have a release date, but its expected to retail for $99.99 and will be hitting stores in the coming days. The headset will be able to generate up to 8 hours of usage and will also be compatible with PlayStation 3, Vita, PC and mobile devices.

The Gold Wireless Headset and the PULSE – Elite Edition are compatible with the free Headset Companion App, which hits PlayStation Store in February. The app allows you to download developer-created game modes that are specifically tuned to enhance a game’s audio. Kicking off the custom sound modes will be Sucker Punch, who’s developing a mode for their highly anticipated PS4 exclusive inFAMOUS Second Son. In addition to these custom game modes, the app also offers a variety of preset audio modes for games, music and movies, as well as a tool to create your own custom EQ mode.
